Why study German?
At German A Level you will learn about aspects of German culture and contemporary society, looking at diversity and the benefits it brings. You will study German-speaking artistic culture, including music and cinema, and learn about political engagement and who wields political power in the German-speaking world.
Would you like to be able to truly enjoy, understand and discuss a German film in depth and reflect on the issues faced in contemporary German society? Would you like to find out more about the challenges surrounding multiculturalism in German speaking countries? Where can German take me next?
Opportunities to study and work abroad are significant. You could study a Single or combined Honours Degree in German with Engineering, German with Business or German with Law. You could teach languages in schools or further education, work in tourism, undertake translation and interpretation work or even become an intelligence analyst, where you can use your language skills to gather and analyse information.
