We have recently updated the uniform policy to reflect the changes to branded items ahead of their introduction in September 2026. The updated policy clearly sets out which branded items are required, as well as expectations for suitable non-branded equivalents.
Thank you.
It is important that scholars wear uniform with pride and look well presented at all times. We strongly advise all scholars in Years 7-11 to purchase trousers and/or skirts from the Academy supplier SWI. If an alternative provider is chosen, please ensure that the style is reflective of the uniform policy and description. Please name every item of your child’s uniform.

Scholars must have the items of kit listed below for their PE lessons. They will be informed in lessons and via Teams as to which items they need in accordance to the sport they are taking part in.

Failure to bring appropriate PE kit will equal to a missing item of kit. Scholars will not be permitted to wear prohibited items. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons and other activities where safety could be compromised.
These expectations are the same when it comes to any extra-curricular clubs and fixtures.
Longsands PE staff and the pastoral team will exclude any scholars from attending extra-curricular clubs and fixtures if they deem their behaviour to not be meeting the Longsands academy expectations.
Consequences for missing kit:
If a scholar is missing 1 item of kit from the essential list above, they will be issued with a correction for lack of equipment. Two of these in a week will result in a detention, as per the Longsands behaviour policy.
If a scholar is missing 2 or more items of kit from the essential list above, they will be issued with a detention, as per the Longsands behaviour policy.
Please note socks are included within the essential items.
Excused from a lesson:
Any scholar who needs to be excused from PRACTICALLY PERFORMING in a lesson must have a written note or email sent before the lesson from a parent/carer to explain the reasons.
When a scholar is excused from a ‘practical’ role in a lesson, they must still be in full PE kit during the lesson UNLESS unable to, in which this will be evident in their note from parent/carer.
Scholars will be issued a detention if they do not have a note and/or their PE kit.
Those scholars excused practically from a lesson, will be given another role within the lesson such as umpire or coach. To ensure that they feel part of the Longsands community and so they have dry and clean clothes to come back to, scholars are still required to get changed for their PE lesson.
