Enrichment
Sixth Form scholars have a wide range of opportunities to develop their skills and passions outside the classroom. They are encouraged to take-part in our extensive range of extra-curricular activities and we work with our scholar body to ensure that we offer opportunities that are inclusive of all tastes and talents, including sports and creative avenues. Sixth Form subjects also run a host of curriculum enrichment activities, including popular trips within the UK, Europe and further a field.
Young Enterprise
This is a great way to show future employers that you have got what it takes, whilst gaining valuable experience running your own business. Young Enterprise is a Nationally recognised enrichment programme, allowing scholars to take a business idea and develop that concept into a fully functioning enterprise. With the support of the Business Department and a Young Enterprise Advisor, scholars will work as part of a team to deliver a product or service that satisfies their customers, whilst at the same time developing essential skills such as teamwork, problem solving and planning.
By taking part in Young Enterprise, our scholars will become more employable, will gain much-needed experience within the business environment.
House System
All members of the Longsands community, staff and scholars, are members of a ‘House’. The House system brings a sense of belonging within our community, enabling scholars and staff to work together across the year ground, and form new friendships, be involved in new and exciting opportunities, further advance the healthy sense of competition and create opportunities for scholar leadership. Sixth Form Scholars have lanyards which display which House they are a part of.

- Appropriate – Clothing which advocates illegal acts or hate crimes, or any clothing that references drugs, profanities or shows other inappropriate imagery should not be worn. No flip flops, crocs, sliders or very high heels should be worn.
- Professional – Clothes must be in a suitable presentation for the place of learning and work.
The following are permitted:
- Smart Jeans (no rips) or trousers

- Smart trainers and shoes
The following are NOT permitted:

Most jewellery is considered acceptable, however, scholars may be required to remove items if they are engaged in a practical activity where the jewellery represents a health and safety risk to themselves or others.
Scholars should also wear appropriate clothing for practical lessons in PE, Sport, Geography and Science subjects.
