Our Sixth Form scholars have a wide range of opportunities to develop their skills and passions outside the classroom. They are encouraged to take part in our extensive range of extra-curricular activities, and we work with our scholar body to ensure that we offer opportunities that are inclusive of all tastes and talents, including sports and creative projects.

Scholars can also take part in a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs run throughout the academy. Our enrichment opportunities include a broad range of experience based learning, so that our young people develop the life skills essential for post-18 opportunities.

Subject Specific Trips

Sixth Form subjects run a host of curriculum enrichment activities, including popular trips such as the below:

  • Business – You may get the chance to visit Worburn Safari Park and the Bank of England.
  • Classical Civilisation – The department runs trips to relevant theatre productions.
  • English Literature and Language & Media Studies – In recent years, the department has organised theatre trips at the Globe, Cinema Trips, British Library Workshops.
  • Fine Art – Art galleries in Cambridge and London.
  • Physics – Cambridge University Physics Department (Cavendish Lab) and a Cambridge College.

Leadership Opportunities

We also support our Sixth Form scholars to take on leadership opportunities – whether that is taking on a new responsibility or acting as a positive role model for scholars in the main school. Sixth Form scholars can become academic leaders and mentors to inspire younger scholars in the main school, and explore their own passions through the Extended Project Qualification. Additionally, scholars can build their leadership capabilities in a range of sports including football, rugby and netball.

Fundraising

Throughout the year, we take part in Wear It Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness, and Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children. Each event is embedded in the Sixth Form calendar and very much supported.
