At Longsands we value the mental health and well-being of all our pupils, staff, parents, carers and everyone in our school community. As a result, around 75% of mental health problems in adult life (not including dementia) start by the age of 18. It is critical that as a school we look to further develop our work to promote positive wellbeing and mental health for the whole school community and gain recognition for the work we have already done. As an Academy we are working towards the accreditation of a nationally recognised award: Wellbeing Award for Schools from Award Place. We hope It will help us to create an environment where mental health is regarded as the responsibility of all.
