Last week saw a number of opportunities for students to focus on revision techniques and reflect on their preparation for coming examinations. The two highlights were, firstly, sessions for some Year 9 and 10 students with Learning Performance who focused on the whole examination experience and secondly our Year 10 examination preparation evening which was full to the rafters. Key information was shared with our Year 10 students and their parents, materials emailed home with the intention of ensuring that the students are able to perform at their very best in their examinations next term.
On a lighter, but more competitive, note our rescheduled inter-form event took place for Years 9 and 10 on Thursday. Tutor groups competed against each other for the glory of being the best in the year group in football, hockey and netball. I would like to extend my thanks to the staff and students who assisted the PE department in ensuring that matches were umpired and refereed, scores were collated, students were supervised and medals awarded.
Finally, we came full circle. The week began with students returning from their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh weekend, having enjoyed some lovely weather, and ended with students working towards their Silver Award leaving us to spend the weekend in Matlock, Derbyshire. Some staff participated in both weekends – a huge commitment to the Award and to our students, for which we are very grateful.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely Easter holiday and hope that you are able to spend some time together doing something you enjoy. We will look forward to seeing all students back in school on Tuesday 23 April.
