Callum Robertson | Head of Sixth Form | Mr Robertson started at Longsands in 2024, leading our Sixth Form and teaching Politics and Law.
Following his completion of a law degree at university, he worked in human rights and child law before deciding to change career, becoming a teacher. He undertook his teacher training in South East London and was previously a Head of Department in Thurrock. |
Michael Simpson

Deputy Head of Sixth Form | Mr Simpson started at Longsands in 2006 as a PE teacher.
In recent years, he has joined the Social Sciences department and now teaches Law, Sociology and Criminology, as well as PE. Mr Simpson has been working in the sixth form for a number of years and was previously the careers co-ordinator. |
Suzanne Alder

Sixth Form Student Support Officer | Ms Alder has worked at Longsands for over 20 years supporting KS3 students, she has enjoyed her role as Sixth Form SSO for the past two years supporting students with their wellbeing and studies.
Ms Alder trained as a visual merchandiser and achieved a BTEC National Diploma for Display and Exhibition Design, working in retail initially, then went on to have a career change and started working with children and young people. She has studied two years with the Open University – ‘Introduction to Social Sciences’ and ‘working with young people’ these modules are linked to the BA/BSc Honours in Social Sciences which she hopes to complete in the future. |
Elizabeth Walton

Sixth Form Student Support and Admin officer | Mrs Walton completed a degree in Business and Law at the University of Hertfordshire and worked in London for several years in HR, Finance, office management and Admin.
She transferred to Longsands Sixth Form from Ernulf Academy in January 2016 and has worked in the Sixth Form for over 8 years. She has over 12 years’ experience of working in secondary schools and Sixth Forms. |
Kate Bell

Most Able Lead | Kate Bell did A Levels in Maths, English Literature, Physics and Further Maths (AS) at a state school in Oxford before studying Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
She has taught secondary Maths at Longsands Academy since qualifying as a teacher over 10 years ago. She has worked county-wide for the Cambridge Maths Hub, training other teachers in A Level Maths teaching. As well as coordinating KS5 Maths at Longsands, Kate also works with our most able sixth formers and particularly those who choose to apply to Oxford or Cambridge. |
