International Education

Longsands Academy has a long tradition of enriching the curriculum in order to nurture global citizenship and intercultural awareness within our student body. The enrichment of our curriculum takes many forms, including regular assemblies to raise awareness of global issues, regular contact with our three partner schools in Finland, France and Germany, involvement in regional and national competitions such as the Creative Translation Exchange and of course a programme of trips abroad. We have a long legacy of running a Language Leader programme for our Year 10 students which builds links with our local feeder primary schools. Our future plans include leading an Ersamus project Game- Jams, which focuses on improving the diversity of participation in STEM subjects. The project will bring together students from Greece, Romania and England.
We are proud that this work is recognised by the British Council in the form of the International School Award which we have held since 2013. We were awarded reaccreditation in 2016, 2019 and most recently in 2022.
