16 – 19 Tuition Fund
funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus. The funding can be used to support small group tuition for
16 to 19 students in English, maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. The guidance indicates that the supported students must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and
who have not achieved grade 5 or above in GCSE maths and/or English by age 16. All will be on a 16 to 19 study programme.
The subjects covered in the tuition will not be limited to English and maths but will be identified according to need and existing programmes for targeted students as outlined above.
At Longsands Sixth Form this funding is being used to offer the following support:
• Enhanced tutoring via the provision of additional tutors
• Making GCSE pod available to all students resitting either English or Maths GCSE courses
• Identifying students who need additional help through academic staff, so that they can be referred to the support team for tailored support
• Support for SEND and high needs students with a specialist inclusion teacher
